McPherson Cellars La Herencia Red 2014

$14.99 (PA tax not included)

“La Herencia,” means “The Heritage.” This is a Texas wine with a Latin heart, a nod to the Spanish pioneers and settlers in Texas’ rich past. Based on the Spanish grape Tempranillo, and including a kitchen sink of four other red grapes, this is a bold, spicy and accessible red wine blend that surprises all who try it. Texas is making some great wines and this one will make you a believer.

The McPherson family has been a part of Texas grape growing and winemaking for over 40 years. McPherson Cellars was created to honor Winemaker Kim McPherson’s father Dr. Clinton “Doc” McPherson, a founder and pioneer of the modern Texas wine industry.

Kim’s Texas wines have won over 450 medals in state, national and international wine competitions. He continues to play an innovative and dynamic role in the development of the Texas wine industry. Kim and Doc were inducted into the Who’s Who in Food and Wine in Texas Hall of Fame in 1999. Kim converted the historic 1930s era Coca Cola bottling plant in downtown Lubbock into a winery and McPherson Cellars opened in fall 2008.
