Caves Transmontanas Vértice Grande Reserva White 2014

$27.99 (PA tax not included)

91 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

This wine features a yellow light golden color. The nose is initially marked by toasted and buttery notes. It opens to well-ripened tropical fruits and fresh nuances of citrus. In the mouth it has a medium-full body, complex and creamy where its fine acidity gives a great liveliness to the wine. In the taste is worth highlighting the ripe fruit, a smoked and roasted note, a background marked by its spicy component, and a long and very persistent finish.

Founded in 1988, on the high slopes of the Alto Douro of Portugal, Caves Transmontanas started with an ambitious goal of producing superior sparkling wine in the Douro region, using the classical champagne method. Today, Caves Transmontanas produces six different sparkling wines and two still wines.

The winery is located outside the small town of Alijó, more precisely in Cimo Corgo.  Annually it produces around 100,000 bottles of sparkling and still wines.
